Education, R&D - a key to competitivness in Finland

In Finland industry, universities and research institutes work in close cooperation with each other, thus promoting competitiveness.
WEF World Economic Forum ranked Finland number 1 in the world "networked readiness" and in the use and application of ICT technologies in the Global Information Technology Report.. Similarly WEF ranked Finland number 2 (after the U.S.) in the general competitiveness and growth opportunities of 80 leading economies worldwide in its Global Competitiveness Report 2002 - 03. Also the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) placed Finland in 2nd position in its World Competitiveness Yearbook for 2002, only behind the United States.
