Finnish retail chains in the neighbouring areas
In recent years, the Finnish retail trade has undergone great changes. Both indigenous and international factors have contributed to this development. Structural changes in rural areas, agriculture and food production have resulted in a concentration of population. Economic deregulation has proceeded and international interaction has increased.
The leading Finnish retail chains have invested in increasing efficiency by building closely knit wholesale and retail arrangements comprising a compact and efficient goods delivery system and a nationwide network of retail shops as well as department stores and supermarkets. They also have hotel and restaurant chains as well as catering services.
The retail chains are meeting the intensifying competition also by establishing international alliances and expanding their operations in the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as in Russia. For many companies, internationalization is a major driver for future growth.
During this press tour, you will visit leading companies in the Finnish retail sector.
