Lamor Corporation, which specialises in oil spill recovery, will be setting up regional oil spill centres in Russia and its neighbouring countries. Building work on the first centre has already started.

Clean Globe International (CGI), which is part of the Lamor Group, will be delivering from five to seven oil spill centres to Russia at a cost of 107 million euros. Besides equipment, the company will be responsible for managing waste from oil production, environmental services and training local crews.

“We’re proceeding as planned. If necessary, we’ll increase the pace if we see something suitable,” says CEO Lasse Parviainen.

The equipment that will be delivered to Russia by the company includes booms, brush skimmers, equipment for raising oil from water, suction materials, storage tanks, land remediation equipment and oil-reprocessing equipment.

Immediate action in an emergency

Because oil reserves are falling worldwide, the transportation and production of oil are moving to increasingly difficult and ecologically sensitive areas. Lamor’s CGI concept has been created to bring services close to the customer, which improves the handling of emergency situations in particular.

“You have to react to emergency situations immediately and recovery action must be started as quickly as possible. This is possible only by operating locally,” Parviainen stresses.

Unique

Parviainen says that Lamor is, in practice, unique: it is the only player on the market that can produce the entire waste management chain from planning, equipment and service to oil recovery.

“We aim to operate so that the customer is offered a comprehensive solution to eliminate the problem. If we find suitable local suppliers of the service items, we’re only too happy to join forces with them. We can also outsource bits and pieces from our customers to make them part of our service chain.”
