Helsinki Chemicals Forum, which will be an annual event aimed at influential people and decision-makers in the chemical Regulation at the international level, is being set up in Helsinki. The forum will assemble for the first time in May 2009.
The forum will bring together players in the sector from Europe and around the world: experts, researchers, political decision-makers, civil servants, representatives from industry, consumers, organizations and other decision-makers.
The forum will open up dialogue between various interest groups and market areas. The aim is to have an effect on the future of the chemical industry and research and on the themes in the debate about sustainable development worldwide.
“No genuinely international debating forum has ever been held to this extent before in the chemical industry. With it being the location of the European Chemicals Agency, Helsinki is the natural meeting place,” says Geert Dancet, the Director General of the Agency.
“The chemical industry has wide scope for shaping a better everyday life for citizens and business life," says Kyösti Sysiö, the Secretary General for Helsinki Chemicals Forum 2009.
The force behind the forum is the Chemicals Forum Association. The City of Helsinki, the European Chemicals Agency, the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland and the University of Helsinki are important partners.
