Ecobio Ltd combines chemistry and the environment. In-depth expertise in the field is needed as companies try to fulfil the obligations in the REACH Regulation on chemicals.

The engineering firm Ecobio Ltd, which was set up 1989, is one of Finland’s oldest companies in environmental management. It is well known for carrying out demanding projects in environmental management and assessing environmental effects within large-scale industry.

“We are trailblazers in Finland,” confirms Taru Halla, an environmental expert. “The REACH services that we offer have also found a wide audience.”

Halla says that the biggest challenge is to make companies aware of the demands in the European Union’s chemicals legislation. “Many won’t wake up until the pre-registration is over.”

Genuine services

Halla looks on managing to get the European Chemicals Agency for Helsinki as a stroke of luck for the chemical and environmental sectors. The Agency will generate new business opportunities that companies must be able to convert into genuine services.

Ecobio Ltd provides its customers with REACH impact studies and action plans, pre-registration and document preparation, training, coaching and counselling. Most work is provided by the REACH surveys and their effects on business operations.

“Finnish competence in the chemical industry and on the official side is top-class and highly regarded at the international level,” Halla emphasizes. “Cooperation is based on a deep understanding of the customer’s business.”
