Smart waste management pays its way
Waste management is sparing on the environment, time and money
if ICT is used. New inventions are necessary since a considerable
part of the costs of municipal waste management is caused
by the collection and transportation of the waste.
The software company Ecomond Oy has developed Transport Control
Systems (TCS), a comprehensive system for the en-?vironmental
management logistics chain that can be used to automate the
driving plan for waste collection, data transmission between
the collection vehicles and office, and route guidance.
WEG Oy, which specializes in solutions for environmental
technology and waste management, has developed the WEG-SMART
warning system for waste compactors. The WEG-SMART miniature
computer monitors the filling of a compactor and transmits
information about it in the form of an SMS text message directly
to the driver. The WEG-SMART warning system can be linked
to the TCS system.
The cooperation offers transport firms an excellent work
tool for planning their operations. The system is suited to
all environmental management logistics solutions.
