Electronics
and Electrotechnics Industry:
TV goes mobile
With a mobile TV you can follow TV broadcasts almost anywhere,
anytime. With Nokia's new smart phone you can watch TV programmes
without sitting on a sofa in front of a TV set.
For consumers to enjoy direct television broadcasts all they
need is a mobile TV network (DVB-H), pilot tests on which
are taking place around the world. Results have proven to
be positive and been greeted with enthusiasm.
Great things are expected of the mobile TV. According to
estimates, some 51 million smart phones supporting the technology
will be sold worldwide by 2010.
The mobile TV is easy to use. For example with the Nokia
N92 users simply need to open the Nokia N92 in view mode and
press the Multimedia key. Other mobile TV features include
watching-time of up to four hours, 30-second replays and recording.
Users can set reminders to watch their favorite TV programmes,
create personal channel lists and subscribe to TV channel
packages.
A mobile phone is not just a phone, but also a radio, camera,
music player and television.
