Electronics
and Electrotechnics Industry:
Viruses kept in check
F-Secure Corporation is competing with virus writers.
The pace is unrelenting, which is forcing the constant invention
of new automatic methods for finding and studying viruses.
The malware made by professional hackers is increasingly
difficult to study. One of F-Secure's new combat methods is
the market's first rootkit detection technology.
As a supplier of data security solutions, the virus laboratory
of this well-known company is not short of work, operating
24 hours a day, 365 days a year and receiving virus samples
from customers around the world. About 40 new viruses are
found daily, only a few of which, fortunately, are of significance.
The number of computer viruses has risen to about 150,000
in 20 years. We also have knowledge of more than one hundred
mobile-phone viruses, which have spread all round the globe
in a couple of years.
