Electronics and Electrotechnics Industry:
Dentistry in digitime
In the next few years digital X-Ray imaging will totally replace traditional imaging in oral health care. The latest dimension in the paperless management of documents will be the three-dimensional imaging application launched in 2006 by Planmeca Oy as part of the Planmeca ProMax X-Ray equipment.
As the technology develops, it will be possible to apply the three-dimensionality in increasingly smaller hospital equipment. Uses for three-dimensional imaging will include root implant, oral surgery and root treatment. In the future these will expand to jaw joints and other parts of the head.
The products of Planmeca, which makes high-tech dental-care equipment, combine the unconventional use and merging of digital and information technology with digital treatment environments of the future. Over 96 per cent of the company’s production is exported to more than 80 countries. The company holds considerable market share both in Europe and the USA. The market share in Asia is also increasing profitably.
