Power plant solutions for many needs
Power plants supplied by a consortium led by Wärtsilä
will produce up to 60 per cent of Cambodia’s energy
requirement from the end of 2006. Wärtsilä has been
operating in Cambodia since 1994.
Demand in 2005 increased again with two orders. One of the
power plants operating in the Phnom Penh region was ordered
by the independent power-generation company Cambodia Electricity
Pte Co Ltd. This 45 MW plant, which will run on heavy fuel
oil, will generate electricity for the national grid. The
other, an order by Khmer Electrical Power Co Ltd, is for a
15.6 MW extension to the 30 MW plant delivered previously
by Wärtsilä.
Wärtsilä is well known as a major supplier of
decentralized energy production on power plant markets all
over the world. The company provides power plant solutions
that are based on oil, gas and multifuel engines, and bio
power-plants. The power plants are suitable for basic power
production, evening out peak loads, back-up power, combined
heat and electricity, and for pump drives.
