Engineering Industry:
Design is part of product development
Cost-effectiveness, usability and a good appearance are the
three golden principles of the industrial designer. The world's
leading manufacturer of paper machines, the technology company
Metso adds uniformity, compatibility, responsibility and quality.
At Metso industrial design is part of product development.
Industrial design seeks to optimize the operation of the
products, added value created for the customer, industrial
production and appearance so that both the customer and the
manufacturer of the product benefit. Design looks for a suitable
appearance for products, not necessarily simply the aesthetic
experience. Metso's design expertise is based on cooperation
in many fields that takes into account various perspectives
from the customer to the end user and from production to after-sales.
Industrial design began at Metso Paper in the 1970s with
slitters, from where it expanded gradually to paper coating
machines and reelers and finally to the entire paper production
line. The company has set up the Metso Industrial Design Centre
to support product development.
