"At Home in Jollas"
Finnish Design alive at home in Jollas
Date: 20.9-24.9.2005 during Helsinki Design Week and
Eat & Joy event
Place: Private home in Jollas, eastern Helsinki
Five days, four nights
The home in Jollas will be alive
This
unique concept of bringing together Finnish designers, making
them work together as a unit, and around a given task, has
not seen daylight ever before. At the same time the original
house from the 50's will be highlighted with new interior
elements just made for this occasion. And of course there
will be traditional house parties taking place around different
themes every single evening and night. This is the opportunity
to see Finnish Design alive, not just talk about the myth,
but experince it on site!
An internationally known Finnish company will give a design
task to the group of eight designers representing different
fields as well as generations of design. These industrial,
furniture, graphic, fashion and interior designers with one
artist will face the challenge of creating something new based
on the assignment. The designer community will intesively
work with the task for five days and four nights
The
group of designers will stay this entire time at home in Jollas
and everyone can come and see how they work. The scene of the
1950s Finnish design when collaboration and sharing of ideas
were the sources of inspiration after the war years in Finland
serves as the model for the Jollas design community. You are
welcome to follow the life of the designer community on a
daily basis: moments of success, conflicts, the working together
of strong creative temperaments
The interior design of Jollas' home is truly unique, constructed
only for this week's event. IMU (www.imudesign.org), which
is an innovative group concisting of young Finnish designers,
coordinate the interior and exterior installations at Jollas.
Surprising products and ideas to decorate your home and enjoy
it will be seen and experienced.
Creativity will be crystallized in various forms during the
Helsinki Design week, promising a totally new experience of
creativity. "Kotona Jollaksessa" (At Home in Jollas)
will be one of the unique events where representatives of
the different fields of art and design will meet and draw
out from their synergy new and innovative material. Just come
and open the front door and step in
!!!

Eat & Joy Helsinki 2005 presents
the creative restaurants of Helsinki
Taking place between September 21 and 25, Eat & Joy Helsinki
2005 is the most international restaurant event ever organized
in Finland.
The event combines the capital's restaurants and new culinary
expertise with the latest Finnish music, fashion, design,
and art. Helsinki presents itself to the world as one of the
most versatile creative centers of Northern Europe - at a
time when the Baltic area has experienced significant changes
in tourism and outlook, thanks to the opening up of the St
Petersburg metropolis and the EU membership of the Baltic
states.
Eat & Joy Helsinki 2005 is a tool for the cooperation
of 40 Helsinki restaurants, from two-Michelin-star restaurants
to clubs and karaoke bars. Although the focus is on restaurants,
between breakfast, lunch, dinner, and nightlife happenings
the international press is served the best of nature and culture
in and around Helsinki. Finnish media are also invited to
participate in trips to the sauna, fishing, picking mushrooms,
and outdoor culinary experiences.
The event is targeted for Finnish and international travelers
and restaurant customers.
