First Prisma hypermarket in Vilnius

SOK will open its first Lithuanian Prisma hypermarket in Vilnius. The unit will be located in the OZAS shopping and entertainment centre and will open its doors in 2008.

The Prisma hypermarket that will be located in the new OZAS shopping and entertainment centre will measure about 10,000 square metres and employ close to 150 people. It will stock about 60,000 different products.

Arttu Laine, SOK's country director, Baltic countries, states that Prisma seeks to achieve strong position in hypermarkets in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.

- We have our sights set on opening 2-4 Prisma hypermarkets in different parts of Vilnius. Prisma's competitive advantages in the Vilnius market will be its permanently low prices, large product mix and ease of shopping. Thanks to its great location, the OZAS shopping and entertainment centre is an excellent place to start up operations in Vilnius, says Laine.

The OZAS is to be the most modern multifunctional complex in the region. The area of the centre will amount to 83,000 square meters. It will have 180 specialty stores, 7 restaurants, food court and a family entertainment centre which is the biggest in the Baltic Countries. OZAS aims to become the most attractive place in the city to shop, entertain and spend time.

The S Group in Finland consists of 22 regional cooperative societies and SOK Corporation with their subsidiaries. The Prisma chain is the market leader in the hypermarket trade in both Finland and Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. In Riga, Latvia, the first Prisma hypermarket is going to open later this year. The value of the sales of SOK's Baltic companies was around EUR 200 million in 2005 and they employ about 1,000 people. The S Group has a total of over 30,000 employees. The Group's retail sales in Finland and abroad amounted to EUR 8.5 billion in 2005.
