The first Sokos Hotel opens in St Petersburg

Sokos Hotel Olympic Garden in St Petersburg opened for business on Monday, 9 June 2008. Situated on a prime site near the city centre, the hotel offers a good price-quality ratio for business and leisure travellers.

Sokos Hotel Olympic Garden is situated alongside Moskovsky Prospekt, close to the heart of St Petersburg. The hotel is within easy reach of excellent connections to the city’s major sights and to the airport. The brand new hotel is situated in the midst of the verdant Olympic Garden Park.

Sokos Hotel Olympic Garden has 348 comfortable rooms and 13 meeting facilities of varying sizes, the largest of which can fit 300 people. Fransmanni, the main restaurant in the hotel, has a rural French ambience. Other services include a lobby bar, sauna and parking facilities.

Business travel to St Petersburg is on the rise. The Sokos Hotels chain with its good price-quality ratio is in a position to offer customers a viable option for staying in the city.

“We are also strongly confident in the growth of Finnish leisure tourism to St Petersburg. Our aim is to offer interesting and reasonably priced packages to the city in co-operation with Finnish tour operators,” says hotel manager Jukka Räisänen.

The metropolis of more than five million inhabitants offers plenty to see and do for everyone, and St Petersburg is just a short distance from Finland.

“We hope that the presence of our safe and familiar Sokos Hotels will heighten Russia’s attraction for Finns. The S Group’s co-op member and loyal-customer benefits, which also apply in St Petersburg, will also enhance the pleasure of tourism.”

The S Group now operates two hotels in St Petersburg: Holiday Club St Petersburg, the first hotel, is situated on Vasily Island; Sokos Hotel Vasilievsky, the third hotel, is due to open in autumn 2008.

Sokos Hotels is the most extensive chain in Finland. It operates 42 hotels throughout the country as well as Sokos Hotel Viru in Tallinn and the latest addition, Sokos Hotel Olympic Garden in St Petersburg. The Sokos Hotels chain, which is part of the S Group, provides professional services for business and conference clients as well as a broad spectrum of options for leisure travellers.
