Cash dispenser euro withdrawals can be practised on the Internet

Since the beginning of summer, Finns have been able to practise cash dispenser euro withdrawals on the Internet. This possibility has been provided by Automatia Ltd's ATM web pages, which contain a virtual cash dispenser that dispenses euros instead of markkas. The virtual cash dispenser also introduces users to the new display menu of the real "Otto" cash dispensers.

Cash dispenser withdrawal amounts will change considerably in Finland once the euro is placed in circulation at the beginning of next year. The dispensers will then give out only 20 and 50 euro notes. Currently in Finland, one can withdraw 50, 100 and 500 markka notes, which are the equivalent of about EUR 8.40, 16.80, and 84.10. Starting January 2002, cash withdrawals will fluctuate between EUR 20-240, or between FIM 119-1,427. The
smallest amount that can be withdrawn at any one time is EUR 20 and the largest EUR 400.

Automatia Ltd maintains and develops a network of about 2,000 cash dispensers in Finland as well as Finland's electronic cash system. The company's ownership is equally distributed between the largest Finnish banks Nordea (Merita), the Okobank Group and Sampo. Together they account for 90 per cent of Finland's retail and corporate customers.
