There is feverish expectation over the next game to come
from Remedy Entertainment, which started its world conquest
with the Max Payne games. Alan Wake, which is now being made,
will by published by Microsoft's own Microsoft Game Studios.
No information on the date of publication of Alan Wake has
been given yet. The game will be released only when it is
good enough. Remedy's operating method includes unbending
quality assurance.
"Alan Wake has potential. We are making it as good as
it deserves to be. When people buy a Remedy game, they know
what they are getting," says Matias Myllyrinne,
the business director.
"After the successful Max Payne, the hunger is appropriate.
The work is being done and feet are staying firmly on the
ground. Success has to be earned every day."
The future looks promising. "We are working in a field
that lives and changes dramatically. We believe that we can,
as a small but flexible company which adjusts quickly to changes,
point the way for the games industry."
Microsoft the publisher
Many publishers were interested in Alan Wake but Remedy's
choice was Microsoft Game Studios (MGS). This is the first
time that Microsoft will publish the product of a Finnish
games company.
"MGS with its strong resources and motivated professional
staff is the best option. We also share a passion to create
something unique," says Myllyrinne.
Alan Wake will be published for PCs and with sole rights
for the Xbox 360 game consol. The operating system for PCs
will be Microsoft's Vista.
Great expectations
The two parts of Max Payne have sold about seven million
copies. Even greater things are expected of Alan Wake.
Alan Wake is an ambitious project, a psychological action
thriller that takes the players to a cinematic, realistic,
dynamic and interactive world. The events in the game are
situated in Bright Falls, a small town in the state of Washington.
