There now exists an online notebook used for communicating between school and home. The popularity of this notebook, which is called Helmi Reissuvihko, is growing rapidly; users in Finland now number tens of thousands.

Helmi Reissuvihko makes cooperation between home and school easier. The system is, in particular, a teacher’s tool for managing information about different pupils and for giving up-to-date information by means of text messages, e-mail and the Helmi Reissuvihko system.

Helmi Reissuvihko focuses on the control of pupils’ absences, tests and timetables and up-to-date communication both inside the school and between teachers and parents. Thanks to the online notebook, information is passed more quickly and easily.

All the users – teachers, pupils and parents – have their own user identities, which grant them access to their own information. Because the system is entirely Internet-based, it can be used anywhere, anytime.

“Finland’s most popular online notebook can be started quickly and is easy to learn,” says Teemu Kettunen, the development director at Nextime Solutions Oy.

“Thanks to Helmi Reissuvihko information travels directly to the receiver, and the flow of information home is not simply dependent on the pupil.”

The first version of Helmi Reissuvihko was designed by two mathematics teachers and brought out in the spring of 2000. As the number of users expanded, the development work was transferred to Nextime Solutions Oy.
