How do you recognize the swing of a top golfer? A device
developed by Metitur Oy for analysing golf strokes knows the
answer to this question, among others.
Metitur's device for measuring balance and practising analyses
a player's weight transference and reports on it to the player.
The device tells the player whether he is making wrong movements,
whether the weight transference in the swing is being made
at the right time and whether the player's alignment is straight
throughout the whole stroke. Your own profile can be compared
with the test results of top players.
"The device gives real time feedback about your performance
and tells you quantitatively what a coach has earlier tried
to tell you by looking," says managing director Pertti
Era.
"For example, you know the swing of a top golfer in
that the player does not sway backwards and forwards during
the stroke; he moves smoothly, keeping his balance."
The product is based on the same technology that Metitur
has been utilizing in health-care equipment for ten years.
Metitur produces equipment and software for measuring balance,
muscle power and motor skills.
The development work required by the golf appliance has been
carried out in association with Swingia Ltd, which markets
the product primarily to golf academies and training centres
around the world.
