Helsinki Design Week is an international week of events in the creative fields for inhabitants of the city and professionals in the design field. The design week was held in September for the third time.

"The aim of the event, which is spreading around Helsinki, is to tune people in to accepting what is new via exhibitions and events. At the same time the event creates opportunities for a wide-scale presentation of all the expertise," says Kari Korkman, a design producer.

This year Helsinki Design Week dealt with objects and services that have been produced and always have a background of product development but in the best case need and innovation as well.

"Consumers are particularly active today: we want to transmit knowledge and experiences of innovations that will add to the quality of life. Alongside commercial aims, we will be endeavouring to develop our city as an operating and living environment."
