Lappset Group Ltd, which is well known as a producer of
wooden playground equipment, shows that design makes a difference
at playgrounds. The company was awarded the Fennia Prize 2005
in January. An additional 13 companies received an honourable
mention.
The victorious Lappset AXIOM playground series is a product
range that has been researched and internationally tested.
It offers children a stimulating and safe playing environment.
The products are suited to different games and needs. They
also develop the child's creativity and innovative ability
The traditional wood structure in AXIOM has been updated
by combining aluminium components with it. "We wanted
to create a product group that would be modern and clearly
defined in terms of design and adaptable to present-day architecture,"
says sales executive Hannu Ylinenpää.
High standard
Decisive in the assessments of the products that took part
in the competition were the innovative nature of the design,
their ergonomic features, aestheticism, and user and environmental
friendliness. The record number of honourable mentions tells
of the competition's high level.
This is now the second time that the Fennia Prize has been
awarded. The competition, which is international and open
to all companies, is arranged by Design Forum Finland and
the prize of 25,000 euros is donated by the Fennia Group.
