Mechanical engineering:
POWER ON LAND AND AT SEA
The name Wärtsilä is associated with shipping.
Various new products and product innovations in the sector
are still linked with the name of the reshaped company. Wärtsilä
supplies engine-room solutions, integrated propulsion systems,
main and auxiliary engines and maintenance services for all
types of marine vessels and offshore applications.
Wärtsilä delivers, gas, oil-fired and bio-fuelled
power plant solutions from 1MW to 300 MW. These power plants
are used for base load, load management, cogeneration and
gas compression applications. Deliveries include turnkey construction
and long-term maintenance and operation.
Wärtsilä´s service builds on the Group´s
global base of installed engines and power plants. With this
activity the Group supports its customers throughout the lifecycle
of these products. Wärtsilä is close to its customers
through subsidiaries in some 60 countries.
The thrust of Wärtsilä´s R&D has for
a long time focused on minimizing detrimental effects to the
environment. In engine development Wärtsilä´s
main focus is on efficiency and environmental soundness, which
are important for both marine and power plant customers. They
have developed a smokeless engine, which has proved to be
very successful on the marine market.
The products of KCI Konecranes are also closely associated
with shipping because, in addition to different plants and
storage facilities, cranes are needed at harbours and by railways.
