INDUSTRY OUTLOOK - MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The mechanical engineering industry comprises the manufacture
of machines, metal products and vehicles. The companies in
the sector employ almost 30 per cent of all the employees
in Finnish industry. A strong market position in many products,
including internationally, requires continual growth and development.
The companies in the sector control the rapid application
of new technology to customer-responsive products and their
production processes. Comprehensive solutions are being increasingly
created for the individual needs of customers on cooperation
networks formed by companies. In this way each company can
develop its own specialized skills, and success creates more
jobs for subcontractors as well.
The mechanical engineering industry accounts for a fifth
of all Finland’s exported goods.
