Mechanical engineering:
NEW LOOK FOR THE HOOK
KCI Konecranes has developed a new range of wire rope hoists
for the lower end of the product range. The new hoists are
intended for cranes and modernization in lifting capacities
up to 100 tons. The new product can operate nearer walls and
leave more space under the hook. The most important innovation
is the safety feature in the form of a substantial decrease
in wire rope wear. Over 10,000 hoists have already been delivered
all over the world.
The container handling technology is another good example
of KCI Konecranes innovative design. Terminal de Contenidors
de Barcelona (TCB) ordered two ship-to-shore (STS) container
cranes. Based on modular software technology, it ensures outstanding
handling precision and reliability. The new solutions will
enable the crane operator to reduce the non-productive part
of the cycle time. The same technology has already been successfully
implemented in over 100 of Konecranes rubber-tyred gantry
(RTG) cranes.
The Port of Houston Authority in Texas, USA, has ordered
ten rubber-tyred gantry cranes.
BILK Kombiterminal ( Budapest Intermodal Logistics Centre)
is building a new intermodal-terminal south of Budapest, by
the crossing of the southern railway and the outermost highway.
In the first phase KCI Konecranes will deliver two container
gantry cranes to the terminal. The cranes are all equipped
with KCI Konecranes active sway prevention system.
