LIFTING INNOVATIONS
One of the most significant events in the sector during 2002
was the merger between Kone and Partek, which created the
biggest service and engineering company in Scandinavia. The
companies’ combined turnover was 5,600 million euros
in 2001 and the staff totalled more than 35,000. Kone acquired
a company that holds the leading position in its main operating
areas. Partek’s worldwide product brands include Kalmar
(container handling), Hiab (load handling), Valmet (forest
machines) and Valtra (tractors).
Kone’s other areas of operation are the assembly, servicing
and modernizing of lifts and escalators and servicing automatic
doors in buildings.
Kone’s most notable innovation is the KONE MonoSpace®
– the world’s first practical, economical and efficient
machine-room-less lift.
Other companies are trying to increase their competitiveness
in various ways such as comprehensive solutions and special
products.
