Construction and the Construction Products Industry:
STEEL CONSTRUCTION

Sanomahouse in Helsinki is an example of Finnish steel and glass construction. Some 850 metric tons of steel, approximately 200 tons of which were stainless steel, were used in the construction of the building, which was completed in 1999. The building has roughly 21,000 m2 of glass surface. Some 1,000 people work at the building - most of them journalists, as Sanomatalo houses the editorial staff of Helsingin Sanomat, the biggest Finnish daily, and two other newspapers.
